Zagreb, May 1941. Ten-year-old Maša lives with her family above the tavern run by her authoritarian father. As the war increasingly encroaches on their daily lives, her father secretly helps a Serbian neighbor escape. Driven by childish logic and suppressed anger, Maša reveals the secret to a young policeman, setting in motion a chain of events that alters the family's fate, while she herself begins to grapple with a sense of guilt.

About the director

Martina Marasović is a Croatian director and screenwriter. She studied History and Philosophy at the University of Zagreb, followed by a graduate degree in History, which she completed in 2017. She graduated in Film and TV Directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb in 2024. She has directed several short fiction and documentary films and works as a screenwriter, assistant director and director. Her short film Moj Nikola (2022) premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival and was screened at Zagreb Film Festival, Go Short, FeKK Ljubljana and other festivals, receiving several awards, including Best Student Film at Najkraći dan in Belgrade and Best Fiction Film at Star Film Fest. Her next film, Ja ću prva (2023), was screened at Brussels Short Film Festival, Zagreb Film Festival and other festivals, and received the Best Director award at Linden Film Festival. Her film Čeljade (2024) was selected for IndieLisboa, Go Short, Zagreb Film Festival, FeKK Ljubljana and CINEMED, among others. She is currently developing her debut feature film Bijes.
